The Global Solutions Initiative is a global network of think tanks and research institutions working together to propose policy responses to major global problems, addressed by the G20, the G7 and other global governance fora. Tagesspiegel is the leading German capital newspaper and initiating partner of the Global Solutions Summit.
The Tagesspiegel editorial team offers a position as Editor Global Solutions. The editor will be responsible for the conceptualization and compilation of a weekly newsletter. The newsletter will cover G20-related issues, all aspects of multilateralism as well as global think tank research. The editor will also be responsible for the compilation of the Global Solutions Journal, which is produced 2 – 3 times a year and includes articles from academics as well as from authors who are working on implementing ideas, be it in the political, economic, business or civil society sector. Both the weekly newsletter and the Global Solutions Journal will be published in English language.

The candidate will be a member of Tagesspiegel’s editorial staff and will work closely together with the Global Solutions Initiative team.

Location: Tagesspiegel, Berlin


  • Research and report on G20 and Global Solutions Initiative related issues
  • Identify topics and themes relevant to the G20 and research communities
  • Identify relevant individuals from within this community of researchers and implementers
  • Establish and produce a weekly newsletter, which summarizes the research findings from leading think tanks around the world
  • Manage and edit the Global Solutions Journal, which is published two to three times a year

Qualification requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in Journalism
  • A minimum of 4-5 years professional experience
  • Expertise in the G20 process, multilateralism and global economic developments
  • Strong commitment to the values and aspirations of the GSI
  • Experience in conceptualizing and organizing newsletters
  • Excellent management, organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a high level of personal initiative
  • IT skills, i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
